Our Company

Green Gold Forestry (GGF) is a UK forest products company operating in Peru. We specialise in the management of natural tropical forests and plantations, producing timber for export and domestic markets.

The company believes that it can deliver the best long-term shareholder value through meeting the strict criteria set by the US and European regulators for tropical timber and is strongly committed to ethical and sustainable management practices.

Sustainable Forestry

GGF has adopted international guidelines to ensure that its operations are truly sustainable. The company complies fully with Peru's Forestry Law of 2002.

Additionally, GGF will seek to exceed the requirements for certification by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

GGF's investment in sustainable mixed plantation forestry will relieve pressure on natural assets in the long term.

International Best Practice

GGF is committed to international best practice and is working with the World Wildlife Fund to achieve Forest Stewardship Council certification for its operations.

GGF is adopting market-leading technology from Helveta to generate a fully auditable chain of custody for its timber products.

Peru

GGF operates in the Loreto region in north-east Peru. Its operations are centred in Iquitos, a city of 370,000 people lying on the Amazon river.

In the past, Peru has suffered deforestation as a result of illegal logging and clearance for agriculture. The government is committed to developing its timber industry in a sustainable manner and its 2002 Forestry Law provides strong governance to support this.
